Prepared in this region since the 15th century, this plum spread is made of 100% fruit with no added sugar, preservatives, or coloring—just as it has been enjoyed for centuries. It is made of blue plums grown in the green, hilly villages surrounding Zagreb in northern Croatia. Traditionally used as a filling for pastries, cookies, and donuts; its good balance between acidity and sweetness make it a perfect accompaniment to mild cheeses, or as a glaze for roast pork loin. This spread is also known for helping digestion and enhancing appetite. A great alternative to heavily sweetened jams and spreads.
